Elizabeth Claire Patterson Rainey

98 Elizabeth “Betty” a lifetime resident of the Emsworth area (Plumer Ave) slipped away quietly December 17, 2017 in Lambertville, Michigan after a short illness.  She was preceded in death by her Father, John Samuel Patterson and Mother, Clara Block Patterson and sister, Georgene Patterson (Charles W.) Dickson.

Mrs. Rainey was born in Pittsburgh July 4, 1919. She had moved to Michigan to be near her granddaughter and namesake, Elizabeth Eischen the past two years.

During WWII, Betty worked at Curtis Wright as an X Ray Technician and afterwards, worked at Heinz Motors (Emsworth); Maxon Tire (later Archlee Tire, Northside)then retired from the NAPA business (Bellevue) in 1994. Having graduated from Oliver High School in 1937, she was active with the Oliver Girls Association.

She is survived by her son, John M. (Carol) Rainey (Phoenix AZ), Granddaughter, Elizabeth “Beth” (Jeffrey) Eischen (Temperance, MI); grandson, John M. (Laurie) Rainey, Jr. (Phoenix, AZ); nephew Joel (Suzanne) Dickson (Ocean City, NJ) and 6 great grandchildren, Michelle, Jeffrey, Christopher, Matthew, Christian and Jacob as well as 4 great great grandchildren, Michael, Bella, Jeffrey and Josie.

Betty will be remembered for her kindness and sweet spirit to family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choosing or to Grace Hospice, 2755 Carpenter Road, Suite 1W, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 will be appreciated.
